Monica is the founding Director of our Kibera children’s center and has been with us since the inception of Jamii-Kenya. She is responsible for overseeing the preschool and after school programs at the Kibera center, the bible study, choir, and soccer teams, and she organizes and manages the center’s feeding program. Monica is responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and retaining volunteers and serves as a role model for the children at the center.
At the Jamii center kibera we have the following programs:
- Feeding program- more than 150 children are feed three meals per day
- Education program-There are three classes, baby class, pre-school and Kindergarten. After this these children join public school from 1st grade.
- Bible study- There is a mentors program for the community. People are taught the word of God by a pastor.
- Extra curriculum- We have home-work mentors program for children, soccer, acrobatics, and choir practices.
- Health- there is a clinic that caters for the children and the community. AIDS/HIV prevention classes offered to the community, and counseling services for those with AIDS/HIV. There is also a Voluntary counseling training (VCT) for the community.
- Spiritual- There is a mid-week and Sunday services both for the children and the community. Bibles studies every evening.
